Bangladesh SSC and HSC GPA calculator

Enter the grade of each main subject. Add the 4th subject grade to see the bonus.

Short answer. GPA is the total grade points of your main subjects divided by their number. For the optional 4th subject, subtract 2.00 from its point and add the rest to the total. The top GPA is 5.00.

How the Bangladesh GPA works

SSC and HSC use a 5.00 scale. Marks map to a letter and a grade point.

MarksGradePoint
80-100A+5.00
70-79A4.00
60-69A-3.50
50-59B3.00
40-49C2.00
33-39D1.00
0-32F0.00

Add the grade points of your main subjects. Divide by the number of main subjects. That is your GPA.

The 4th subject is optional. Its rule is simple. Take the grade point of the 4th subject and subtract 2.00. If the answer is above zero, add it to the total of your main subjects. Then divide by the number of main subjects, not by one more. A 4th subject with 2.00 or less adds nothing, and it cannot lower your GPA.

The GPA cannot go above 5.00. If the sum gives more than 5.00, the result is 5.00.

Main subjects differ by group and level. This tool lets you add or remove rows, so you can match your own list. Do not put the 4th subject in the main list.

An F in a main subject is a failed subject. This tool shows the plain average and warns you. It does not apply any board rule for a fail, so read your board notice for that case.

How to use the result

Pick a grade for each main subject. The point shows next to it. Then pick the 4th subject grade, if you have one. The result shows the GPA with the bonus, and the plain GPA without it, so you can see what the 4th subject adds.

Many universities and the GST admission process use the GPA of SSC and HSC, and some also look at subject grades. Check the rules of the place you apply to. Keep your board marksheet at hand, because it is the official record and can differ from a hand sum.

Worked example

Example. Six main subjects: A+, A+, A, A, A- and B. Points: 5 + 5 + 4 + 4 + 3.5 + 3 = 24.5. Plain GPA: 24.5 / 6 = 4.08.

The 4th subject is an A (4.00). Subtract 2.00 to get 2.00. Add it: 26.5. Divide by 6: 4.42.
