MAKAUT CGPA to percentage

Enter your MAKAUT DGPA or CGPA. The tool follows the university's own conversion table, which works out to (DGPA - 0.75) x 10.

Short answer. MAKAUT's official conversion table gives 6.25 = 55%, 6.75 = 60%, 7.25 = 65%, 7.75 = 70% and 8.25 = 75%. Every row fits (DGPA - 0.75) x 10. A DGPA of 7.6 gives 68.5%.

The official formula

Percentage = (DGPA - 0.75) x 10

The MAKAUT document says DGPA will be converted into equivalent percentage marks as given in its table, on the ten point scale. The table lists 6.25 as 55%, 6.75 as 60%, 7.25 as 65%, 7.75 as 70% and 8.25 as 75%. The document does not print a formula. Each row matches (DGPA - 0.75) x 10, so the tool uses that line between and beyond the rows.

Where it comes from

The document is titled How to Calculate Percentage from Your Grade Point. It is in the announcements folder of the MAKAUT website. It shows no memo number, date or signature.

Source:

We read the source on 2026-10-10 and checked it on that date.

Who it applies to

The document names the DGPA on the ten point scale. MAKAUT was formerly called WBUT, and the DGPA is the degree grade point average on its final grade card. The document does not name a course or batch.

How to use the tool

Type your CGPA in the box. The tool shows the percentage and a short table of nearby values. Always compare the answer with your marksheet or a certificate from the MAKAUT office, because only they can give the official figure.

Things to watch

Use the DGPA from your final grade card, not a single semester's SGPA or YGPA.

The table stops at 8.25. Above that, the tool extends the same straight line. For an official figure, ask the university.

At a CGPA of 8.0 this rule gives 72.5%, the same as the VTU 2018-19 rule.

Going the other way

Forms often ask for a minimum percentage. Under the MAKAUT rule on this page, 60% needs a CGPA of about 6.75; 70% needs a CGPA of about 7.75; 75% needs a CGPA of about 8.25. These are plain reversals of the formula. They show what CGPA you would need to clear a percentage cut-off, but the form may ask for the university's own certificate.

How it compares

At a CGPA of 7.6, the MAKAUT rule gives 68.5%. For the same number, CBSE gives 72.2%, VTU gives 68.5%, JNTUH gives 71%. The spread is the reason to use only the rule of the body that gave you the CGPA. Our CGPA to percentage hub lists every rule we have checked.

Worked example

Example. A MAKAUT student has a CGPA of 7.6.

(7.6 - 0.75) x 10 = 68.50%.

Questions

What is the MAKAUT CGPA to percentage formula?

MAKAUT publishes a table, not a formula. Every row fits (DGPA - 0.75) x 10. A DGPA of 8.0 gives 72.5%.

What DGPA is 60% at MAKAUT?

The official table gives 6.75 for 60%.

Is this the same as WBUT?

Yes. WBUT was renamed MAKAUT, and the document is on the MAKAUT website.

Is this the official MAKAUT conversion?

It follows the document linked on this page, which we read on 2026-10-10. For a certificate or a form that needs the official figure, ask the MAKAUT office.

Can I use the MAKAUT formula for another university?

No. Each board and university sets its own rule. At a CGPA of 8.0 the rules in this series give anything from 69% to 85%. Use the page for your own university.

What if my marksheet shows both a CGPA and a percentage?

Use the percentage on the marksheet. It is the university's own figure, and it overrides any conversion from a tool.
