Short answer. The DBATU First Rules and Regulations (July 2016), in the Award of Class section, give Percentage of Marks = (CGPA - 0.5) x 10 on the ten point scale. A CGPA of 7.75 gives 72.5%.
The official formula
Percentage of Marks = (CGPA - 0.5) x 10
The rules say the equivalent percentage of CGPA on the ten point scale follows this formula: Percentage of Marks = (CGPA - 0.5) x 10. A small table sits beside it. It lists 6.00 as 55.0, 6.25 as 57.5, 6.50 as 60, 7.25 as 67.5, 7.75 as 72.5 and 8.25 as 77.5.
Where it comes from
The formula is in section R1 clause 12, Award of Class, of The First Rules and Regulations of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, dated July 2016. That clause is about B.Tech programmes. It sets class by CGPA, and then gives the conversion for reference.

Who it applies to
The text is written for B.Tech programmes of the university. The sample table in the tool uses the same CGPA values that the rules list, so you can compare.
How to use the tool
Type your CGPA in the box. The tool shows the percentage and a short table of nearby values. Always compare the answer with your marksheet or a certificate from the DBATU office, because only they can give the official figure.
Things to watch
The rules also say the degree certificate will not mention any class. The conversion is for information, not for the certificate.
The formula matches the JNTUH one, but the two universities are separate. Do not assume that a third university uses it.
These are the 2016 rules. A later amendment may exist that we did not read.
Going the other way
Forms often ask for a minimum percentage. Under the DBATU rule on this page, 60% needs a CGPA of about 6.50; 70% needs a CGPA of about 7.50; 75% needs a CGPA of about 8.00. These are plain reversals of the formula. They show what CGPA you would need to clear a percentage cut-off, but the form may ask for the university's own certificate.
How it compares
At a CGPA of 7.75, the DBATU rule gives 72.5%. For the same number, CBSE gives 73.62%, VTU gives 70%, JNTUH gives 72.5%. The spread is the reason to use only the rule of the body that gave you the CGPA. Our CGPA to percentage hub lists every rule we have checked.
Worked example
Example. A DBATU student has a CGPA of 7.75.
(7.75 - 0.5) x 10 = 72.50%.
Questions
Does DBATU print the percentage on the certificate?
The rules we read say the final degree certificate will not mention any class. The percentage is a conversion for use when someone asks.
What CGPA equals 60%?
Solve (CGPA - 0.5) x 10 = 60. The CGPA is 6.5. This matches the table in the rules.
Is the table the full rule?
No. The table lists a few sample values. The formula covers every CGPA on the ten point scale.
Is this the official DBATU conversion?
It follows the document linked on this page, which we read on 2026-10-10. For a certificate or a form that needs the official figure, ask the DBATU office.
Can I use the DBATU formula for another university?
No. Each board and university sets its own rule. At a CGPA of 8.0 the rules in this series give anything from 69% to 85%. Use the page for your own university.
What if my marksheet shows both a CGPA and a percentage?
Use the percentage on the marksheet. It is the university's own figure, and it overrides any conversion from a tool.
