SPPU CGPA to percentage

Enter your SPPU CGPA. The tool multiplies it by 8.9, the factor in the university's exam section documents.

Short answer. Documents on the Savitribai Phule Pune University exam website give Percentage = CGPA x 8.9. A CGPA of 7.5 gives 66.75%.

The official formula

Percentage = 8.9 x CGPA

The SPPU conversion note states: percentage of marks obtained by the candidate = CGPA x 8.9. The same factor appears on the marksheet note for the BArch 2019 pattern. The conversion note also gives class bands: a CGPA of 7.42 or more is first class with distinction, 6.75 or more is first class, 6.18 or more is higher second class and 5.62 or more is second class.

Where it comes from

Both documents are on the SPPU examination section website, under the marksheet documents. The conversion file name carries the date 22 August 2022. Neither page prints an issue number.

Who it applies to

The conversion note does not name a course or pattern. It reads as a general rule for SPPU marksheets that show a CGPA. The BArch 2019 pattern note uses the same factor. Some calculator sites quote a tiered formula for the engineering 2019 pattern, said to come from a 2020 circular. We could not open that circular on an SPPU website, so we do not use it here.

How to use the tool

Type your CGPA in the box. The tool shows the percentage and a short table of nearby values. Always compare the answer with your marksheet or a certificate from the SPPU office, because only they can give the official figure.

Things to watch

If you study engineering under the 2019 pattern, ask your college which rule your marksheet uses. Calculator sites quote a different, tiered rule for that pattern.

A factor of 8.9 gives lower numbers than most rules. A CGPA of 8.0 gives 71.2%, against 80% under a factor of 10.

A CGPA of 10 gives 89%, not 100%. That is how the rule is written.

Going the other way

Forms often ask for a minimum percentage. Under the SPPU rule on this page, 60% needs a CGPA of about 6.74; 70% needs a CGPA of about 7.87; 75% needs a CGPA of about 8.43. These are plain reversals of the formula. They show what CGPA you would need to clear a percentage cut-off, but the form may ask for the university's own certificate.

How it compares

At a CGPA of 7.5, the SPPU rule gives 66.75%. For the same number, CBSE gives 71.25%, VTU gives 67.5%, JNTUH gives 70%. The spread is the reason to use only the rule of the body that gave you the CGPA. Our CGPA to percentage hub lists every rule we have checked.

Worked example

Example. An SPPU student has a CGPA of 7.5.

8.9 x 7.5 = 66.75%.

Questions

What is the SPPU CGPA to percentage formula?

SPPU exam documents give Percentage = CGPA x 8.9. A CGPA of 8.0 gives 71.2%.

What CGPA is first class with distinction at SPPU?

The SPPU conversion note gives 7.42 or more, which is about 66%.

Does the tiered circular 332 formula apply to me?

We could not read that circular on an SPPU website, so we cannot confirm it. Ask your college exam cell which rule your marksheet uses.

Is this the official SPPU conversion?

It follows the document linked on this page, which we read on 2026-10-10. For a certificate or a form that needs the official figure, ask the SPPU office.

Can I use the SPPU formula for another university?

No. Each board and university sets its own rule. At a CGPA of 8.0 the rules in this series give anything from 69% to 85%. Use the page for your own university.

What if my marksheet shows both a CGPA and a percentage?

Use the percentage on the marksheet. It is the university's own figure, and it overrides any conversion from a tool.
